The craziness that is NBA free agency kicked off over the weekend and basically every top athlete had already made their decisions…except for one.
Kawhi Leonard remains unsigned.
Leonard was traded to the Toronto Raptors last offseason and only made his presence felt by winning a title and another NBA Finals MVP after defeating the Golden State Warriors in 6 games.
Multiple reports suggest three teams are in the mix for his services: The Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, and Toronto Raptors.
According to the latest report from New York Times reporter Marc Stein, the Lakers believe they are in the lead for Leonard.
“The Lakers, as we’ve been saying for more than a week now, believe they are firmly in the lead largely through the recruiting efforts and assurances made on separate fronts from Magic Johnson and LeBron James,” Stein reported.

Stein also mentioned that the Lakers and Clippers “are determined to say as little as possible” about this process to avoid upsetting Kawhi or his camp.
There is no timeline to when Kawhi will actually make his decision, but whatever it is, it will drastically shift power to that team.
