Since being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young has been determined to carve out his place in NBA history. Despite Gilbert Arenas’ recent claim that Young is a better scorer than Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Young himself remains critical of his progress.
During a recent appearance on the “Million Dollar Worth Game” podcast, Young expressed his dissatisfaction with his performance. The star guard didn’t hesitate, attributing it to his size.
“I used to have this saying. I used to hate when I used to see guys that’s tall and That’s All. They’re just out there; they’re tall, and that’s all. They can finish and do all this stuff,” Young said.
Young stands at 6 feet 1 inch, which is shorter than the average NBA player, who typically stands around 6 feet 4 inches. This perceived disadvantage weighs on him, and he feels that a greater height could have significantly enhanced his performance.
“I mean, if I were 6’8, I feel like I would be the best player to ever play this game. Just because of my mentality and the way I play, just the smartness I have on this game,” he added.
Fans Troll Trae Young for Claiming Height Would Make Him the Greatest Ever
Trae Young believes that if he were 6’8″, he would be the greatest basketball player of all time. However, many NBA fans disagree with this view, arguing that simply being taller wouldn’t necessarily enhance his skills or make him a more effective player.

The Hawks guard is coming off a season averaging 25.7 points, 10.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. But still, the fans think he couldn’t prove his athleticism comparing with players his size. One critic even suggested that such a claim might be more credible if it came from Stephen Curry instead of Young.
Young is a three-time All-Star, and his performance has certainly earned him respect. However, many players who are taller than Young have not achieved the same level of success. This perspective suggests that Young’s skills and basketball IQ, rather than his height, contribute to his success.
