Dwyane Wade has been one of the biggest stars in the NBA realm. Having won the title 3 times, Wade was also adjudged as the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player back in 2006. Besides that, the prolific basketball star also made it to the All-NBA Team twice- in 2009 and 2010. Unfortunately, behind the shining career, the 43-year-old has been hiding a dark health secret.
In a recent update, Wade revealed that he had a cancerous tumor removed from his kidney in late 2023. Speaking on ‘The Why With Dwyane Wade,’ the NBA star stated that he decided to consult a doctor after noticing significant changes in his body. One of the biggest areas of Wade’s concern was his slow stream of urine.
“Because I did the full body scan, they were able to see my entire body, my entire insides, and they were able to see something that was on my kidney,” said Wade. He also mentioned that the doctors suggested that it was a possible cyst or tumor that needed to be operated on.
And thankfully, the operation went pretty well for the NBA star. But in the process, he had 40% of his kidneys removed. “Thank God that I did the surgery, right, because the tumor was cancerous,” Wade further chimed in.
