LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers star player, will soon play his 22nd NBA season, making him the oldest player currently active in the league. The 39-year-old star is widely regarded as the greatest of all-time players because of his unique skills and stellar achievements. However, before the start of his next season in the NBA, a former NBA player questioned his GOAT status.
In a recent post by The Truth on X (formerly Twitter), former NBA player Kwame Brown suggested that the sports media contributed to the hype around James as the greatest of all time.
“Lebron is the GOAT because Lebron controls the media, No NBA player thinks Lebron is the GOAT. The ones that do say that is because they want a job but they dont really believe that. Lebrons game cant speak for itself so he has had to resort to paying the media to say hes the GOAT. Hes nothing but a fake goat with no skills” Brown said.
Brown’s statement sparked a debate among the fans, who began criticizing the former NBA players in the comment section of Truth’s post on X.
One fan said, “Haters still try every naritive to downplay LeBron in 2024. They lie again and again and even use other people lies. GG!”
Meanwhile, another fan mentioned, “Kwame is your typical jordans*xual. Anyone who thinks jordan is the goat ks blinded by nostalgia or is simply just an idiot.”

A basketball fan expressed support for James by stating, “The majority of the media never pick Lebron as the Goat . I really don’t see his point.”
Another fan commented, “yeah Kwame is wrong about this.”
Brown Thinks James Hasn’t Improved His Skills
In a recent interview with Swish Cultures, Brown criticized the all-time points leader, James, for not developing his skills throughout his professional career. The former NBA player expressed that James, who had the lowest midrange field goal percentage in the NBA last season, is not a good three-point shooter.
“The old-school players wouldn’t have any trouble with LeBron because, at 39, he should have developed a mid-range and a post game, and he still hasn’t yet.” Brown said in a recent interview.
Brown’s statement could catch the attention of the four-time NBA champion James. It will be fascinating to see his reaction.
