Luka Doncic captured the spotlight with his brilliant performance and for taking jibes at opponent Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the home court fans in Game 5 of the electrifying series between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The tough crowd at the Paycom Center had their target set on the Mavs guard since Game 1. The crowd tried ridiculing Doncic by chanting “Luka s**ks” in every game, however, they couldn’t get on his nerves instead he seemed to be enjoying it. At one point, Doncic even said directing at the OKC fans, “Thank you for paying and watching me.”
When the crowd still went on with their chants to frustrate the Slovenian, he threw his arms on their beat to encourage them. Besides leading the offense with a triple-double of 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in the 104-92 win, Doncic blocked a crucial shot of Shai that received huge praise.
With less than a minute to go the SGA tried hitting a shot to cut the deficit. Doncic who went up to guard it, lured him by saying, “Give me that sh*t.” As the Thunder guard attempted the shot, Doncic jumped and blocked it. The energized 25-year-old said, “f*ck yea!” while Shai fell near the court line.
Doncic displayed his remarkable shooting skills on Wednesday converting 12-of-22 shots from the field into baskets along with 5-of-11 threes and he feels the heat from the crowd helped him.

The Mavericks have taken a 3-2 lead down the road in the thrilling semifinal series. Despite the crowd’s harsh taunts, Luka Doncic has managed to come out with another success from the Thunder Arena and disclosed what motivated him in Game 5.

During the post-game press conference, the Real Madrid alum stated, “I love it, and when they chant Luka sucks, it gets me going.” This was surely not the intention of the crowd but it acted in the 5-time All-Star’s favor.
The teams will face off on Saturday at the American Airlines Center where Doncic and Co. will get the support of home fans where one win would sweep the OKC team and confirm the Mavericks’ spot in the Western Conference Finals. However, the Thunder are not easy competitors, they have the same zeal to bag the championship trophy this season.
