After 13 remarkable seasons, the clock has finally stopped for Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors. This era was phenomenal for the entire Warriors team. Reflecting on Klay’s remarkable contribution to the team, coach Steve Kerr could not pass on without saying some words for Thompson’s magical run in Golden State.
“I just want to say thank you to Klay Thompson for 13 incredible years, 10 of which I was there for. What he did for the team, the organization, the Bay Area, and for me personally—the relationship that we have, all the incredible success, but more importantly, just going through it all together—has been so meaningful and so amazing,” Kerr said.
Thompson was 24 years old and entering his fourth season with the Warriors when Kerr became the head coach. Though their bond ended on a sour note, for which Thompson even unfollowed the team on Instagram, Kerr ensured their love for Klay.
“We’re going to miss Klay. We wish him the best. We love him, and we’ll miss him. Klay, if you’re watching this, thank you for everything,” Kerr added.

The trade also involved the Charlotte Hornets, Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Thompson joins a Mavericks team that recently reached the NBA Finals for the first time in 13 years but lost in five games to the Boston Celtics.
Thompson, who won four championships with the Warriors, now has the opportunity to team up with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The Mavericks hope this new trio will lead them to their second championship.
