Basketball discourse on social media is in a really bad place.
No one in the NBA media is immune to bad takes that we see from regular people online. For instance, Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report is now the target of NBA Twitter following some comments she made about Damian Lillard.
While speaking to Jayson Tatum, Rooks made the claim that Kyrie is a superstar while Dame isn’t. Her reason was that Lillard does not have a star player next to him which means he cannot reach the next level.
“I think that Damian has all of superstar qualities, but it’s hard to put him in it in this moment because of…he just, like, needs a little more,” she said. “But obviously, like, he has that in him.”
“Needs a little more…?,” Tatum said.
“I mean he’s gotta win. He’s gotta get there. Like, to me that’s some of it” Rooks said.

Other fans focused on Rooks’ comparison of Kyrie and Dame. They just couldn’t accept the notion that Kyrie Irving is a better player than Damian Lillar.:
Things haven’t exactly gone according to plan for Damian Lillard in the last year or so. He missed almost the entirety of the 2021-22 season while recovering from abdominal surgery.
However, Lillard’s status as one of the superstar players in the NBA remains unquestioned, surely.
