Taylor Rooks has pushed back against the narrative of athletes getting too comfortable around her and saying just about anything.
Rooks has become a star in the sports media world and is developing a reputation for her ability to get her interviewees to open up and divulge things they probably wouldn’t otherwise. Some are of the view that this is predicated on the fact that players are so focused on her looks, that it disarms them.
Well, while she admits that it is flattering, the star journalist doesn’t believe her looks have much to do with the success of her interviews.
“I will say I have seen the tweets,” she told Complex earlier this week.
“This belief that if a player gets in front of me, they’re just gonna say whatever. I don’t agree with the narrative. I think that people confuse just the fact that I can ask a good question with the way that I look.
“And I think that without even realizing it, it can be a little diminishing to the work that I put in for the interview.”
We cannot ignore the fact that Rooks is, in fact, one of the hottest-looking women in sports media. And we’re sure that there aren’t many athletes who would not jump at the opportunity to have a sitdown with her.
Who knows? Maybe she has disarmed at least a few of them. But we also can’t discount her talent as an interviewer or the hard work she puts in.
