LeBron James will be 40 years old during the following season. However, he is not showing any signs of slowing down. The four-time NBA Champion reportedly agreed to sign a two-year, $104 million max deal with the Lakers one day after his son Bronny James agreed to a two-year guaranteed contract with the Lakers.
King James is preparing to impress NBA fans by pursuing a championship with his son in the upcoming season. However, NBA analyst Emmanuel Acho recently criticized LeBron James, suggesting a change in his focus. During a recent episode of ‘Speak on FS1,’ Acho expressed his opinion that James’ main objective has shifted, and he’s no longer solely focused on winning a championship.
Acho pointed out examples such as the Lakers hiring JJ Redick as head coach and drafting Bronny James as the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. This led Acho to imply that James may be more focused on these matters rather than solely prioritizing the championship, raising questions about his commitment to the Lakers.
“LeBron’s primary objective is no longer winning championships. It’s not winning championships because if his primary objective was to win a championship, I don’t know if J.J. Redick would be the head coach. If his primary objective was to win a championship, I don’t know that he would be playing for the Lakers. If his primary objective was to win a championship I don’t know that Bronny James would be on the team. So, I don’t know that his primary objective is to win a championship. I think the Lakers and LeBron James have two different goals,” Acho said.
Acho Revealed Lebron James and the Lakers Are on Different Paths
Acho further mentioned that LeBron James did his best to get his son Bronny to join the Lakers. He also noted that James and the Lakers have different priorities. The NBA analyst said that the Lakers are focused on winning the championship, while James is focused on winning the championship with his son Bronny and head coach Redick, who is also his podcast co-host.
“Now, if you’re a Lakers fan, you should have your concerns. Because the Lakers and LeBron are serving two completely different masters: The Lakers are serving the god of winning. LeBron James is serving the god of playing with Bronny James and having a coach who he knows well.” Acho added.
