Despite the Golden State Warriors facing a challenging defeat of 109-114 against the New Orleans Pelicans, who were missing Brandon Ingram, Coach Steve Kerr expressed pride in his team’s efforts.
He highlighted the competitive spirit displayed by the Warriors on the court. Additionally, Kerr specifically praised Draymond Green for delivering an exceptional performance that stood out.
Steve Kerr talks on agonizing defeat of Warriors to Pelicans
Steve Kerr talks about the defeat after the game ended, and when the reporters encountered him, he said:
“Yeah, our turnovers killed us. We had perfect control of the game in the first quarter and held them to 17. Our defense was great. And then we just started turning it over. I thought Alvarado came in, put a lot of pressure on the ball, and we couldn’t execute offensively. And they scored 15 points off our turnovers in that quarter alone. So that’s where the game flipped, for sure.”
While the Warriors didn’t win this game, Steve Kerr rightly pointed out that it’s vital to highlight Draymond Green’s outstanding performance. This season, the team has had some issues with defense, making Green’s effort even more impressive. Not only did he show great determination on defense, but he also made some remarkable assists, which is no easy feat.

Looking ahead to the play-in tournament, Green’s performance could be just the boost the team needs to make it to the playoffs.
Warriors league position after Pelicans loss
The Warriors had an excellent opportunity to move up to the 9th spot in the standings, especially with the Sacramento Kings losing to the Phoenix Suns. However, the Los Angeles Lakers secured a win against the Memphis Grizzlies, putting LeBron James and his team in the 8th spot.
The Golden State Warriors can secure the 8th seed if they win against the Utah Jazz on Sunday, and both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings lose their games. However, considering that the Sacramento Kings are facing the struggling Portland Trail Blazers, it’s more likely that the Warriors will end up as the 9th or 10th seed by the end of the regular season.
This competition for the 8th spot in the standings is as intense as the race between three teams for the #1 seed. It’s a nail-biting scenario where every game counts and the Warriors are right in the middle of the action.
