Stephen Jackson is one of the few people outside of George Floyd’s family that can say they knew him personally and are hurting so much harder to watch as he pleaded for his life as a cop put his knee on his neck and ignored his cries for not being able to breathe.
The former NBA player and 1-time champ led a press conference on Friday for his friend and gave an passionate speech about cops and the media trying to cover up murders of African-American men by bringing up their past to justify what they did.
Jackson, 42, and Floyd are longtime friends from Houston, Texas, and the pair were so close that they called each other “twin.”

This was the 14-year NBA veteran a few days ago when he heard about the sudden and tragic passing of his friend.
“This what I gotta wake up to, huh? Floyd was my brother, man, we called each other ‘twin,’ bro,” Jackson said in one clip, noting that Floyd had recently moved to Minnesota to be a truck driver.
“I had just sent him up two or three boxes of clothes. My boy was doing what he was supposed to do, man. Y’all went and killed my brother,” Jackson continued. “I’m on my way to Minnesota, man. Whatever I can do. I can’t let this ride, dog. Y’all not going to be mad until this hits your front door. Bullsh—.”
That cop has since been arrested and charged with murder.
