There is no stopping Stephen Curry. On Thursday night, Curry contributed to the Golden State Warriors’ 110-99 victory over Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. Along with a season-high 11 rebounds, the two-time MVP scored 31 points and pulled down eight rebounds in just the first quarter.
While Klay Thompson scored 16 points off the bench, including four three-pointers, he had another double-figure performance. Jonathan Kuminga scored 25 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the floor.
Curry beat the Knicks in the way that he always does, making 8 of 18 three-pointers to go along with a game-high 31 points. But against New York, Curry displayed a largely underappreciated talent by grabbing 11 rebounds, all but one of which came in the first half as Golden State took an early lead. Curry, who last achieved double figures in rebounds in November, set a new season record with that.
The Warriors, who took an early 14-0 lead and never looked back, won the game handily. Throughout the second half, the Knicks made several attempts to reduce the margin to single digits, but they were eventually unable to do so.
OG Anunoby and Julius Randle’s absences affected the remainder of New York’s rotation, as Brunson completed the game with 27 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
The Warriors improved to 31-27, while the Knicks dropped to 35-25.
