The ongoing reports of Giannis Antetokounmpo possibly joining the Warriors are not going away.
In fact, Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry is reportedly the dominant reason the Milwaukee Bucks superstar would consider joining the Dubs in free agency, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
The Bucks can offer Antetokounmpo the supermax extension whenever the 2020 offseason begins, but if he chooses to decline it, he can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2021.
“If Giannis hits the market next summer, he will be 26. Curry — a friendly acquaintance, considered by those in the know as the dominant reason Giannis’ eyes would even tilt in the Warriors’ direction — will be 33. Thompson, currently in the late stages of his ACL rehab, and Green, showing early signs of a physical decline, will both be 31.”
If Kevin Durant never took his talents to the Warriors a few years ago, this may have never came up in a conversation, but this is the new NBA and superstar players are linking up on the same team like never before.
Antetokounmpo was averaging 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists for the Bucks prior to the 2019-20 season getting suspended.
Even without Giannis, the warriors are still a NBA title contender when their star players are healthy.
