NBA superstar Stephen Curry is renowned for his magical skills on the court and his close-knit family life, which he often shares with fans through social media platforms. Drafted seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft, Curry has cemented his place in basketball history as arguably the greatest shooter ever.
Beyond the on-court success, Curry’s family life offers a glimpse into the personal side of the Golden State Warriors legend. Let’s look into the lives of the Curry family members:
Stephen Curry’s family: Parents and Siblings
Stephen Curry’s parents, Dell Curry and Sonya Curry, are at the heart of Stephen Curry’s family.
Dell Curry, Stephen’s father, was a professional player who played for clubs including the Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets, and Cleveland Cavaliers before Stephen’s rise to NBA stardom. Even though Dell Curry wasn’t one of the league’s most prominent talents then, he played a prominent role in his son’s successful career.
Steph Curry has undoubtedly inherited his father’s shooting prowess, as Curry Sr. was one of the league’s top shooters. During his 1,083 NBA games, Dell Curry averaged 11.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists overall. In addition, he had impressive field goal and beyond-the-arc shooting percentages of 45.7 and 40.2 per cent, respectively, and an 84.3 per cent free-throw percentage.
Virginia-born Sonya Curry also had athletic genes which she passed on to her kids. She participated in high school basketball, volleyball, and track and field. Sonya Curry was one of Virginia Tech’s top volleyball players out of all the sports she participated in.

Steph has two younger siblings. Seth is his younger brother, while Sydel is his younger sister.
Seth, Stephen’s younger brother, and his brother entered the professional basketball scene. Seth Curry is moving in the right direction professionally despite not being as successful as his older brother. With a height of just 6 feet 1 inch, the younger Curry has played at the 1 or 2 positions for multiple teams during his time in the NBA. He is now with the Charlotte Hornets.
The youngest of the Curry siblings, Sydel played volleyball at Elon University from 2014 to 2016 but did not enter the professional ranks like her brothers. She earned her team’s MVP award in 2016 but an injury forced her to retire from the sport in 2017.
