Stephen A. Smith is widely known for his hot takes and outrageous claims about everything related to the world of the NBA. His well-documented beef with the Pelicans over Zion Williamson slanders revealed the analyst’s far from impressive basketball career and many before have questioned his ball game. Generally, it’s Stephen A.’s job to make people prove him wrong, but this time by putting his hooping skills on display, the 56-year-old is proving his doubters wrong.
In a video shared by Adrian Wojnarowski, the former point guard is seen shooting the ball in the basket for 3s and layup finishes, aided by Bob Myers. The footage soon became viral on X (formerly known as Twitter) and the social media didn’t shy away from being the judge of Smith’s hooping skills. Here are some comments posted on X:

But why suddenly was Stephen A. Smith shooting hoops? To find the answer, we have to trace back to his comments about shooting against LeBron James.
Stephen A. Smith Claims to Score Against LeBron James
Those who are familiar with Stephen A. Smith already know his long-standing opinion of the Lakers ace. From his love for Michael Jordan, Stephen A. always tried to undermine LeBron’s unmatched mastery on the court.
Recently, on an episode of “First Take” Stephen A. made a bold claim that he could sneak score one past LBJ. “This is me shooting the rock. This what I can do,” said Smith, “Now let me be very clear, I said it and meant it. If he doesn’t have to give the ball back, he’ll score 100 straight points at me, I can’t stop him. … If they’re going to give me 99 [shots], I can’t make one damn shot? … If you gave me 30 chances at one shot? 1-of-30?”
While Stephen A. looked confident in scoring at least one field goal over LeBron out of 30 attempts, his co-hosts were far from an agreeable term with the claim. Since the Lakers’ first-round exit from the playoffs, LeBron James has been seen spending time with his family, particularly with Bronny James, who attended the NBA Draft combine ahead of the 2024 Draft. But in his free time, if the King is interested, it’d be a match to watch between him and Stephen A. Smith, regardless of the inevitable result of their 1v1 duel.
