NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski created a buzz on social media on Wednesday, not with a basketball update but with his decision to step away from ESPN and the news industry. Among the NBA community reacting to Woj’s announcement, Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith called it a “devastating loss” for the basketball media.
Smith initially took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Devastated! What a loss for us here at ESPN. The absolute best in the business, my man (Woj). I’m gonna miss you, Buddy!”
Smith also discussed Wojnarowski’s departure on First Take and shared his thoughts with fellow members Molly Qerim and Chris Russo. He said, “I’ve gotten to know Woj over the last couple of years working on NBA Countdown. He’s the best in the business. Make no mistake about it. Nobody’s more well-connected, nobody’s more respected.”
“And to be around him and … to be able to touch on a wealth of knowledge that he’s had in all of his years covering the league. The CONTACTS that he has, the inside information that he’s had. He’s led this place for quite a long time.”
