Stephen A. Smith is refusing to back down after getting shown up by Lonzo Ball and has fired back at the Chicago Bulls point guard in what could turn out to be an entertaining back-and-forth.
This week, Smith claimed that the player’s knee injuries have made it so that he has difficulty getting up from a sitting position and he might never be the same on the back of his surgeries.
Ball promptly took to social media to call the ‘First take’ host out, posting a video in which he’s seen sitting and standing using just one leg. Lonzo did not claim he could play basketball and was simply showing Smith he has no trouble standing up, but the journo took it up a level thereafter, addressing the matter both on ‘First Take’ and his personal podcast.
“You really gonna sit poolside on a bench and think because you’re getting up and sitting down and getting up and sitting down, that makes you healthy?” he said. “Does that have anything to do with running up and down a damn court for 30-35 minutes a night? C’mon bro. C’mon now.”
“And then, you’ve got these idiotic trolls all over social media. And, of course, you know, these websites, the Bleacher Report and others. ‘OH, HE REALLY TORE INTO STEPHEN A.! Don’t you have the stats? Don’t you know how many games he’s missed?”

He concluded by saying: “Sit your A down… until another time. And I’m wishing you luck! … Stop it! Just stop it!”
Smith also claimed to have gotten his information from Lonzo’s doctors, whom he said he could name but would not.
Of course, if that’s the case, it would probably amount to a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) violation, which means he’s either bluffing or has a scoop that could get some medical professionals in some serious trouble.
He’s also right about games missed and the fact that Ball will be out for several more. But the point, as Lonzo clearly pointed out, is that the guy has no problems getting up from a sitting position.
