During a recent episode of First Take, the show’s host, Stephen A. Smith, was amazed by Nikola Jokic’s expression as he watched the Wolves defeat the Nuggets in the 4th quarter of Game 6. Smith explained the facial expression of the Nuggets’ star player.
“He had that look on his face like, ‘I’m gon’ get you b*st*rds, Imma get y’all. Obviously, I had Minnesota winning this series, but y’all know this. Monica, because obviously you played Tim Legler, and you have been covering the league for decades, you know what that look is about. Smith said.
Smith further mentioned that Jokic is the best player in the world, 3-time NBA MVP, and defending champion. He explained that Jokic was staring at Minnesota, not at his own teammates, and thought that he would not be leaving.
“It’s certain things that you just see. And it’s one thing to be just sitting on the bench, and it was a bad night and damn, we getting it given to us and all right, that’s fine. But It’s another thing entirely when a superstar who is the best player in the world, who is a three-time league MVP and happens to be the reigning defending NBA champion. Is just standing there staring at them and just willing not at his own teammates, looking at Minnesota, Imma get y’all, I’m not going away.” Smith added.

“Anthony Edwards is the Michael Jordan of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s the Kobe of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Game 7 is a different bonus, and Anthony Edwards, we are talking about you as a star. You gotta be the dude that we saw in the Game 7.” Smith added.
Minnesota and Denver will face off in the seventh game of the conference playoffs at Ball Arena this Sunday.
