Amid the situation with with the Philadelphia 76ers and the ongoing drama with Ben Simmons was a viral report from Stephen A. Smith saying there was a possible plan to trade Kyrie Irving for Simmons. He added that it would not happen because Kevin Durant stepped in to stop it.
The following day, Smith took to Twiter and called everyone a liar for reporting what he said while trying to backtrack on his original comments.
Here is the full clip of what he said on ESPN’s “First Take.”
Smith said on ESPN’s First Take that “Kyrie (Irving) could have ended up in Philly. Sean Marks couldn’t do that because KD wasn’t having it. KD wasn’t having it. KD is like, ‘Kyrie ain’t going no damn place.’”
“If it were not for Kevin Durant, the Brooklyn Nets would be interested in making that deal because let’s call it what it is — If Ben Simmons was in Brooklyn with KD and James Harden, it’s a wrap. It’s a wrap. They’re winning the chip.”
