During a recent episode of the show ‘First Take,’ host Stephen A. Smith discussed the conference semifinals between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets. A few days prior, Smith had confidently predicted that Minnesota would dominate the series and win the title. However, following Minnesota’s 97-112 loss to Denver, Smith retracted his statement, admitting that it was the worst prediction of his career and that he had never been more embarrassed by a prediction he had made.
“I sit before you all a very humbled individual; you know, I’ve made my share of predictions throughout the years. I’ve been wrong sometimes. I’ve been right a lot more than I’ve been wrong, but I’ve been wrong in a very conspicuous and flagrantly embarrassing fashion. Right now, the Minnesota Timberwolves have me looking like I have made the worst prediction in my career history. I’ve never been more embarrassed by a prediction that I have made.” Stephen A. Smith said.
Smith continued by saying that he apologized to the Denver Nuggets and regretted his words about the team that he had spoken about during his recent speech. He finally accepts that Minnesota will be defeated in the series against Denver.
“I sit here today. I not only owe an apology to the organization of the Denver Nuggets but also to the champions that they are. They do look defeated and humbled. I don’t believe in the rest of them anymore. Minnesota just looks defeated.” Smith added.
What exactly is Smith’s prediction for Minnesota?
“I think the Denver Nuggets are on the verge of getting swept. I never thought in my wildest dreams that it would be able to say that. And I believe that the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to win the world championship. I think they are going to win it all.” Smith said a few days ago.
Denver currently leads the Conference semifinals series against Minnesota with a score of 3-2. Minnesota must win the next game in order to remain in the league this year. The Nuggets‘ star player, Nikola Jokic, delivered an outstanding performance with 40 points, 13 assists, and seven rebounds, arguably his best of the series. Game 6 of the series is set for Thursday at Target Center.
