Former NBA player Scottie Pippen recently appeared on the PBD podcast, where he discussed various topics related to the league. However, the most notable comment he made was regarding Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. His comment prompted NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith to voice his opinion.
When Patrick Bet-David asked Pippen whether he believes James surpasses his peers in terms of team impact, Pippen referenced his championship successes and argued that his accomplishments as part of a team are more significant than those of James. Pippen’s statement stirred controversy within the NBA community. In response to Pippen’s comments about James, NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith backed Lakers star LeBron.
“LeBron James is one of the top 2-3 players in the history of basketball and you know it. How do we know you know that, there’s certain times you flirted with him being better than Michael Jordan and you know that’s blasphemy but you were never that offensive player…” Smith said in the recent episode of the Stephen A. Smith show. “The hell are you talking about and we can accuse LeBron James of a lot of things the brother got four rings, Scottie, he’s got four. He’s been to 10 NBA finals and by the way he never had a migraine in a game seven it never happened, only do you.”
During the discussion, Pippen also reflected on his relationship with Michael Jordan. He mentioned that, despite playing together for a long time on the court, they were never friends. Smith criticized Pippen for his comments about Jordan and referenced instances where Jordan praised Pippen.
