Stephen A. Smith opened Wednesday’s episode of “First Take” with a lengthy apology for his rant against his own employer.
On Tuesday, the ESPN personality lost his mind over ESPN’s NBA Best 25 under 25 list — which ranks the top young players in the league under the age of 25.
That list was just so terrible that Smith ripped it to pieces on ‘First Take’ and said the people who made it should be drug tested.
“I love LaMelo Ball, but it’s stuff like this that diminishes the credibility of ESPN,”
“ESPN needs to drug test anyone who had something to do with this. It makes no sense. LaMelo Ball before Devin Booker, really? LaMelo Ball before Donovan Mitchell, really? LaMelo Ball before Jayson Tatum, really? I mean, what the hell is going on? I believe that ESPN should call security right now and go to whoever put this list together – line them up and test every one of them.”

Smith, who requested that ESPN “call security” because “someone’s out of it,” mentioned that he is “disassociating” himself from whoever took part in the creation of the list.
On Wednesday, Smith said he was just “joking” and that his comments were “trivial.”
Despite apologizing to his ESPN colleagues on Wednesday, Smith still stood by his argument that the list was pure “blasphemy.”
