A social media account, NBA Central on X (formerly known as Twitter), recently posted that former NBA head coach Stan Van Gundy believes Jayson Tatum has been complaining to officials frequently this season.
“Jayson Tatum didn’t used to be this bad, but over the course of this year, he complains on virtually every non-call. Almost every time he misses a shot, he’s upset with the officials.” Stan Van Gundy said.
Tatum has the potential to become an invaluable player and a champion. However, during a game on Thursday night, Tatum only scored 18 points, four rebounds, and seven assists, which was not his best performance. Tatum had an awful shooting game from the three-point range, missing six of his seven attempts.
He could not break free from the Celtics’ overall struggles in a terrible offensive effort as a team. Tatum will have two more chances to get back on track before the playoffs begin: on Friday against the Hornets and Sunday against the Wizards.
Jayson Tatum may receive a technical foul for excessive complaining
Tatum has been performing exceptionally well this season, with an average of 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per game over 74 games. He has also maintained a good percentage of 37.6% from three-point range and 47.1% overall.

The Celtics have a 62-18 record after playing 80 games, making them the best team in the NBA and the first seed in the Eastern Conference. However, they have been on a two-game losing streak and have a 6-4 record over their previous ten games.
Tatum may receive a technical foul for excessive complaining, which could escalate the situation. Fans of the team are hoping that he performs exceptionally well and doesn’t have any disagreements with the officials. Tatum will have no reason to complain if the Celtics win their next three games by a larger margin.
