If you weren’t a fan of the ending of the Netflix sensation “Squid Game,” you’re not alone. A few weeks ago, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was overheard discussing the series with teammate Anthony Davis during a press conference where both players confirmed they had each finished the season.
“Yeah I didn’t like the ending, though…” James can be overheard telling Davis.
(Spolier Alert, if you still haven’t watched)
The end of the series finds Seong Gi-hun headed to catch his flight to visit his daughter in the USA one year after winning the deadly competition. However, he paused when he calls the people responsible for creating the game. The voice on the other end tells him to get on his flight and forget about what he went through.
Seong not only hung up, but turns around and looks determined to find the people responsible.
Fast forward to this week and the ‘Squid Game’ creator is firing back at James for his comments. The show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, had this to say:
“Have you seen ‘Space Jam 2?’ LeBron James is cool and can say what he wants,” Hwang told Stuart Jeffries of The Guardian. “I respect that. I’m very thankful he watched the whole series. But I wouldn’t change my ending. That’s my ending. If he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending.’”
