The San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has quickly amassed a large fan base in just one season in the NBA due to his remarkable skills. However, a man from Texas has illegally exploited the popularity of the 2024 Rookie of the Year.
According to recent reports by Daniela Ibarra of KSAT, Wembanyama recently filed a lawsuit against James T. Glodich. The reports state that the Texas man was trying to profit off his name by selling unauthorized merchandise.
Glodich has been accused of applying for a trademark for “El Wemby” branded sweatshirts and T-shirts. Additionally, the person from Texas is alleged to have filed a trademark application for “Wemby’s World” branded clothing for retail purposes. However, the United States Patent and Trademark Office rejected both applications due to a false connection with Wemby.
According to the reports, Wembanyama’s legal representatives have sent numerous cease and desist letters to Glodich. However, he has not responded to any of these letters so far.
