Chris Paul just checked in San Antonio after his move to the Spurs. The excitement surrounding the 39-year-old’s imminent link-up is off the roof, and that was proved again when the Spurs social media team dropped a new CP3 video.
In the official reveal video posted on X, Chris Paul is seen greeting the Spurs fans. “Hey, what’s up Spurs fans? Just want you guys to know how excited I am to get to San Antonio. I would have never thought a million years that I’d get an opportunity to play for Pop, but I’m so excited. Excited about this young and talented team. Cannot wait to get there and get to work and see what we got a chance to do. All right, hope you guys are well. Go Spurs. Peace,” the Point God said in the video.
The Spurs nation couldn’t keep calm after seeing Paul’s video and gathered in the comments to celebrate the move.
One fan wrote, “Looking forward to about 20 CP3 lobs to Wemby per game.”
Another added, “we are excited also!”

A hopeful fan commented on Paul’s post, “You are going to help this franchise take a huge leap! Stay healthy and you guys will be a fun team to watch. I can’t wait!”
A Spurs fan was hyped to see Chris Paul’s unveil and wrote, “LETS GOOOOOOO”.
“Been campaigning for CP3 to find his way to San Antonio and here we are with the Point God on the Spurs,” added another fan.
While on the surface, there’s reason to rejoice for the fans, but even with Paul, they’re expected to “semi-tank”, keeping next year’s draft in mind, believes an NBA insider.
NBA Insider Believes Spurs Will Semi-Tank Despite Chris Paul’s Addition
During a recent episode of The Hoop Collective, Brian Windhorst revealed his thought process in predicting the effect of Paul joining the Spurs. Last season, the Spurs had a 22-60 record and with Chris Paul, that might improve, but it won’t be a stark improvement, as per Windhorst. “I said this the other day before they acquired Barnes, and I’ll say it again now: I use the word semi-bluff, I think it’s a semi-tank,” the ESPN insider said. Next year’s draft will see Cooper Flagg join the mix, who is the top prospect in the country. To get a better lottery selection, the Spurs need to finish outside the play-in picture, and even with the addition of the former Warriors guard, that seems probable. Victor Wembanyama won’t be joining the Spurs preseason until the Paris Olympics are concluded, so the Spurs fans need to be a bit more patient to see Chris Paul’s link-up with Wemby.
