LeBron would’ve been better off not saying anything at all. Unfortunately, he did not do that and he is getting blasted for it.
After Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted his support for the Hong Kong protesters, the NBA has faced heavy backlash from China essentially cutting them off and eliminating everything that is basketball related. The Houston Rockets have certainly faced the brunt of that as they were the most popular team in China, mainly because of Yao Ming.
Just before the Lakers were set to take the floor against the Warriors on Monday, LeBron James decided to make the situation worse by commenting on Rockets GM Daryl Morey.
“We all talk about freedom of speech — yes, we do have freedom of speech. But at times, there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others and you’re only thinking about yourself. I don’t believe — I don’t want to get into a … feud with Daryl Morey but I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand. And he spoke. And so many people could have been harmed, not only financially but emotionally, physically and spiritually. So just be careful with what we tweet and what we say and what we do, even though, yes, we do have freedom of speech. But the can be a lot of negative that comes from that speech.”
Social media rightfully blasted him to another atmosphere:

He would soon take to Twitter to further explain what he was trying to say, but basically made it even worse.
