Has anyone checked the NBA All-Star 2025 starters pool? LaMelo Balls fans have at least. The latest shocker came the Charlotte Hornets star guard’s way of being omitted from the list. And that, too, despite leading in fan voting.
Fans love Ball, and they feel frustrated by his snub from the All-Star list. Instead, the Eastern Conference coaches selected Jalen Brunson, Donovan Mitchell, and a lineup of formidable frontcourt players to fill the spots. Soon after the names were out, social media fans were in unrest and were reacting to the ordeal.
“Lol Jalen Brunson over Cade and Lamelo is almost laughable,” a fan commented.

While Ball may have missed out on a starting role this time, there is optimism about him. LaMelo is likely to be named among the reserves. He might join San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama when the full roster is announced next Thursday.
NBA Reveals All-Star Starters Voting That Snubbed LaMelo Ball
Almost everyone believed that LaMelo Ball would receive an NBA All-Star starter nod this year. And that was obvious of him, given ranking second in the Eastern Conference in points per game and leading in three-pointers. All of this makes his exclusion from the starting lineup particularly surprising. Despite getting nearly 1.9 million fan votes, Ball struggled with his shooting efficiency. He only hit 41.9% of his field goal attempts.
“Starters for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game were selected by fans, current NBA players and a media panel. Fans accounted for 50% of the vote to determine the starters, while players and media accounted for 25% each…the two guards and three frontcourt players with the best score in each conference were named NBA All-Star Game starters,” as per the NBA Communications.
The selection process for NBA All-Star Game starters involves a unique combination of fan votes, player votes, and media assessments, with each group holding a different weight in the final tally.
Three voting groups determined the starters for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game:

“Each player’s score was weighted based on 50% for fan vote, 25% for players vote and 25% for media vote. The formula to determine a player’s score is (Fan Rank * 2 + Player Rank + Media Rank)/4,” the website added.
However, keeping all of this in consideration, another key factor that likely contributed to Ball’s All-Star snub is the underperformance of the Charlotte Hornets as a team. With a dismal record of 11-29, the Hornets sit 13th in the Eastern Conference, casting doubts on Ball’s ability to lead a winning squad.
