With the February trade deadline drawing closer, the Golden State Warriors are increasing their efforts in the trade market. Recent reports suggest the franchise is open to discussing trades involving their young core, including Jonathan Kuminga, the seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Kuminga has been a promising player for the Warriors. However, with the team aiming to surround Stephen Curry with veteran players capable of making an immediate impact, Kuminga’s name has surfaced in trade rumors.
Last week, speculation about Kuminga’s future intensified, particularly after the Warriors made a notable move by acquiring Nets guard Dennis Schroder. This addition signals the team’s intent to fortify its roster with experienced players as they look to contend for a championship this season.
Amid the swirling trade rumors, Kuminga made a cryptic Instagram post on Sunday. The Warriors star shared a photo of himself with the caption “✌️✌️✌️.”

The post quickly drew attention from fans, with many interpreting it as a potential farewell message. This has fueled further speculation that Kuminga could be included in a trade package as the Warriors reportedly aim to land a superstar before the trade deadline.
Fans have been divided over the possibility of trading Kuminga. While some believe moving him could bring the Warriors a player who can immediately bolster their title hopes, others feel trading a young talent like Kuminga might be shortsighted.

Jonathan Kuminga’s Starting Role Still Unclear After Warriors’ Win
The Golden State Warriors earned a solid 113-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. Jonathan Kuminga, who came off the bench, played just over 23 minutes in the game.
After the game, head coach Steve Kerr addressed Kuminga’s role and whether his time as a starter was officially over. Kerr explained that the situation remains fluid.
“Not necessarily. You just don’t know how circumstances are going to play out. You just don’t know how these things are going to shake out,” Kerr said.
Kuminga contributed 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists while shooting 3-11 from the field. Although his performance was modest, the 22-year-old has been a key contributor for the Warriors this season, averaging 15.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
