The Denver Nuggets are in 6th place in the Western Conference, boasting 14 wins and 11 losses. Although the team is facing challenges in their quest to reach the top of the 2024-25 NBA season, Nikola Jokic, the standout star, is mesmerizing fans with his outstanding displays on the court.
ESPN’s Tim Bontemps recently revealed the results of an NBA MVP straw poll conducted by the network. Serbian basketball player Jokic currently ranks first on the list. Jokic, who has already won the NBA MVP award three times, is again a fan favorite for this honor. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder comes in second, followed by Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks in third place.

Chris Mannix Questions The Impact Of Nikola Jokic’s Weight
Nikola Jokic is having one of the best seasons of his professional career. He consistently delivers outstanding performances and has reached remarkable milestones. Recently, during a game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Jokic nearly executed a One-Hand Full-Court Ball Tap. While his skills are exceptional, there are some concerns about his weight within the league. In a recent discussion on the Bill Simmons podcast, Chris Mannix addressed this issue.
“If you’re carrying that heavy and offensive burden it’s going to cost you something on the other end no matter who you are and I think it’s costing him there. The other thing I keep hearing—and I haven’t been around him personally enough to see it—is that people keep saying he’s heavy, right? Like, he’s not in the kind of shape you’ve seen him in during years past.” Mannix said.
Jokic is currently averaging 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 9.8 assists in the 2024-25 NBA season. The Nuggets will play their next game against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center.
