There was something vastly different about James Harden.
Aside from him wanting out of the Houston Rockets organization, he finally came back to the team to play in a preseason game against the Spurs on Tuesday. That was less of a story because everybody was paying more attention to his physique.
The 31-year-old three-time scoring champion appeared as if he was not quite in game shape and may have put on a few pounds in the offseason. Naturally, everyone on social media had some fun with Harden’s new physique:

Harden played 21 minutes in the win in the win over the Spurs, recording 12 points on 3-of-10 shooting, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 turnovers.
Harden missed the Rockets’ first two preseason games because of COVID-19 protocols, as he was viewed partying without a mask in Atlanta and Las Vegas.
The NBA required Harden to test negative for the coronavirus on six consecutive days before he was cleared to practice with the team.
