The Golden State Warriors have had a tough season. Even their star player, Stephen Curry, has not been at his best. Despite this, Curry was named an All-Star for the 2024-25 season. This year’s All-Star selections have been particularly controversial as several star players who are performing at a high level missed out.
On NBA Today, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins voiced his opinion that Curry did not deserve a spot in the All-Star game. Perkins went on to explain that being an All-Star should be based on performance, not popularity.
“I look at a guy like Steph Curry making the All-Star game this season. I look at a lot of guys like Kyrie Irving, Devin Booker, De’Aaron Fox just in this conference who had better seasons or playing better than him. Steph Curry should not be an All-Star. He shouldn’t,” Perkins said.

“No matter what the fans want, no matter what the coaches want, no matter what we want, or who we want to see, still you have to earn being an All-Star by your production,” he added.
NBA Fans Side With Kendrick Perkins Over Stephen Curry’s All-Star Controversy
Instead of criticizing Kendrick Perkins for his bold take on Stephen Curry’s All-Star selection, many fans have come out in support of his opinion. They believe that not only Curry but also Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James should not have made the list.
Neither did Lebron

he's in the group of 4 guys that no matter what they will be allstars (Bron, KD, Giannis, Steph, Jokic)

Curry is averaging 22.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game this season. Meanwhile, James is putting up 23.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 9.0 assists. While Curry and James continue to be fan favorites, many believe the league should focus more on rewarding players based on their production on the court.
Players like LaMelo Ball, Kyrie Irving, Devin Booker, Norman Powell, and De’Aaron Fox are all averaging more points per game than both Curry and James. However, they were left off the All-Star roster.
