Way back in 2012, Chicago-based rapper Chief Keef set the world on fire with his two hit singles, “Love Sosa” and “I Don’t Like.” His music put eyes on the city of Chicago like never before as many wanted to know about the area he was from, O-Block.
Located at the 6400 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, O-Block has been referred to by many as the most dangerous block in all of Chicago. Before his death, King Von made sure to speak about his neighborhood on every single record and made it cool to take people there from out of town.
Now, it has become a tourist attraction, despite bullets flying at random times as the gang there is still at war with other surrounding gangs.
Former NBA champion, Stephen Jackson recently pulled up to O-Block and made himself right at home. The 44-year-old is being blasted for walking around O-Block and explaining why he was enjoying a privilege that most people will never have enough street credibility to experience.
“I’m on O-Block…I couldn’t be out here in Chicago and not tap in with the real ones,” Jackson said as he puffed on a cigar. “That’s why I’m the realest. I’m out here, on the block. With my jewelry on, ngga! You can’t come out here if you don’t check in with the locals. I don’t give a fck what block you go to, if from there ain’t on the block, you not welcome. Fck you mean! We do this sht the G way! We under the old law, not the new law…I pull up and take pictures and y’all not allowed to…rest in peace King Von…”
