Skip Bayless is a man who likes to say controversial things to garner a reaction from people. He did it again on Monday.
During a discussion on ‘Undisputed’ about about the illustrious career of Dirk Nowitzki, co-host Shannon Sharpe said he would rank Nowitzki as the second-best foreign-born player in NBA history, behind Rockets’ great Hakeem Olajuwon. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that..except Skip Bayless.
That’s when Bayless interrupted: “I must add, I think Manu Ginobili is better than Hakeem, but that’s just me. I’m just going to throw it out there,” Bayless said.
Sharpe: “I’m going to throw you out of the building.”
Bayless: “You don’t get how special Manu was. You don’t get it.”
Sharpe: “You about to get up outta here, Skip.”
Bayless: “I’m just telling you, I’m not gonna back off that.”
Sharpe: “If you want to say that subconsciously where people can’t hear it, have at it.”
Let’s put this debate to rest right now. In 18 NBA seasons, Hakeem made 12 All-NBA teams six times making the All-NBA first team.
Olajuwon averaged 21.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.1 blocks, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Ginobili averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 0.3 blocks, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
