Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick recently sparked debate within the NBA community with his comments about declining NBA ratings. He claims that former NBA players and analysts have consistently spoken negatively about the league, which he believes has diminished fan excitement for watching NBA games.
NBA analyst Skip Bayless expressed his displeasure with Redick’s recent statement. In his latest post on X (formerly Twitter), Bayless labeled Redick as “weak” for deflecting blame regarding the negative media coverage of the NBA.
“JJRedick’s Lakers, with 2 Top 10 players, have underachieved at 19-14, 6th in West, 9 games back of OKC. YET REDICK CRITICIZED GENERAL NBA MEDIA COVERAGE AS TOO NEGATIVE??? BLAME-DEFLECTING!!! “LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE.” WIN SOMETHING BEFORE YOU MOUNT YOUR SOAP BOX, JJ. WEAK,” Bayless wrote in his recent post.

Bayless directed his criticisms towards Redick, noting that even with prominent stars such as Anthony Davis and LeBron James on the roster, the Lakers trailed the OKC Thunder in the standings.
JJ Redick Addresses Charles Barkley’s Comments
In a recent episode of “Inside the NBA” on TNT, host Charles Barkley criticized Redick for his comments about declining NBA ratings. Barkley referred to Redick as “a dead man walking.” Following this, Redick addressed Barkley’s criticism during a press conference.
“I got a random text from somebody after the game. I went to look at my phone and it says something about Charles Barkley. And I’m like, ‘Huh?’ But (assistant coaches) Greg (St. Jean) and Beau (Levesque) showed me. I didn’t make it all the way through the clip, I gotta be honest with you,” Redick said.
