Renowned sports analyst Skip Bayless parted ways with FS1 in August after hosting the Undisputed show for eight years. Bayless has never hesitated to voice strong opinions about both current and former players, even criticizing LeBron James for complaining about the Los Angeles Lakers’ pregame schedule.
During his appearance on the ‘All The Smoke podcast,’ Bayless turned his attention to White American centers in the NBA. Bayless criticized the white American centers’ performances over the past two decades.
“I’ve been so hard over the last 20 years, over White American centers being taken in the lottery, anyone who is 7-foot or above. I can show you that they’ve been disasters. Do you know why? Because they’re classic stiffs. All they’ve got is they are 7’1”, but they can’t play basketball,” Bayless said.
This criticism comes on the heels of the 2024 NBA Draft, where two White American centers were selected in the lottery. Zach Edey was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies, and Donovan Clingan was picked by the Portland Trail Blazers.
Rookie Edey is averaging 11.5 points, and according to Bavoda, Edey is the second-most favorite to win the Rookie of the Year. Clingan’s stat is not so overwhelming, as he is averaging 5.7 points per game this season.

“This kid named Holmgren he could jump, like quick jump, and he was long and skinny like a bean pole, but he could run. I mean, he can run, and his shot is textbook pure stroke, like pretty stroke. You couldn’t teach your kid to shoot it much better than he strokes it from three and shoots it like he means it,” Bayless said.
Holmgren is averaging 16.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in his second season with the Thunder. With the rising star, the Thunder are at the top of the Western Conference with a 11-2 record.
