It was a fan moment for Tyrese Maxey when he finally got his hands on LeBron James’ game jersey. It’s not that it was something he went straight up and asked the Los Angeles Lakers superstar for it. In his own words, Maxey earned it over the years.
After a stellar performance leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a 118-104 victory over the Lakers, Maxey expressed his excitement about finally asking LeBron for one of his jerseys. It was an explosive night for the Sixers star point guard, who scored 43 points in the game. During the postgame press conference, he couldn’t contain his honest feelings.
“I told him after the game, I said ‘Look man. I waited five years to ask for a jersey. I know I’ve known you for a while, but I think I’m gonna get it this year. He was like ‘Alright cool’, but he’s just like a big brother to me,” Maxey said during the post-game presser.

However, this was more than just a request for the young guard. It was a chance to honor the player he views as a mentor and a ‘big brother.’ Maxey’s admiration for James runs deep, stemming from their shared connection through the same agent and summer workouts. The respect he holds for James is evident as he recounts how they push each other during training sessions.
