On the special occasion of Mother’s Day, TV One Networks shared a glimpse of their new show “Raising Fame” which will be hosted by the mothers of NBA stars Shaquille O’Neal and Stephen Curry. The show will focus on the hardships of hosts Lucille O’Neal and Sonya Curry, among others, in raising their talented kids.
In the trailer, Sonya was spotted saying, “It can be overwhelming… [So] for us, it was creating a community of fellowship to say, ‘You’re not in this alone. You don’t have to recreate the will. There’s somebody else who understands where you are, and you can tell your story.’”
A glance at Lakers legend Magic Johnson’s mother and Billy Porter’s sister is also shown in the video. Although the date of the release has not been mentioned, it has been stated that the episode will be aired in July.
Both Sonya and Lucille knew the tough times and responsibilities they had while their kids were growing into NBA geniuses and Mama O’Neal knew it more, who didn’t have a house of her own.
Buying His Mother a House Drove Shaquille O’Neal to NBA Greatness
Shaquille O’Neal was born into a family where his parents faced difficulties making ends meet while raising the 15-time All-Star and his siblings. So when Shaq started earning a fortune in his NBA career, he was determined to do things for his parents.
Shaq had his priority straight to provide his mother with a house of her own. “Growing up she never had her own s**t. And that was the best moment for me. Walking into their neighborhood, at their prices, talking to the realtor and she said, ‘It’s $800,000,’ and I said, ‘Okay, we’ll take it.’ I’m like, ‘Mama, we good now. We’ll take it,’” revealed O’Neal during his appearance on the “Pound 4 Pound” podcast. (After: 14:06)

Lucille was stunned when Shaq spent a massive amount on the house as she was not used to such a lavish lifestyle. Shaq gradually accumulated enormous wealth after spending 19 years in the league along with his various business ventures and is a multi-millionaire who won’t hurt his pocket by buying a house for $800k.
