NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is arguably the favorite basketball player in the United States. The former Lakers player is also very aware of his role in society. He recently decided to step in and help people fulfilling his duties as a responsible citizen.
Shaq returned to Atlanta to attend a few important events taking place in the town. In his visit to the city, he made sure to sit down with Sheriff Reginald Scandret to discuss a few important things before the voting season starts in May and November.

After completing his meeting with the Sheriff, Shaquille O’Neal shared an important message for his neighbors. “We have to really pay attention, and we, we have to vote…And the good thing about the 500 thousand people that are coming here, it is mostly us. So we control our destiny. So if we pay attention… research who we vote for and vote, we can run this whole thing,” said Shaq.
The local news channels also covered the news of Shaquille O’Neal having a meeting with the Sheriff. They spread Diesel’s message of researching and going out to vote as a responsible citizen of the country. Given that the former Lakers star is an honorary policeman, his actions are not surprising.
Shaquille O’Neal’s career as a Policeman
The NBA legend has had an interest in the law from an early point in his career in the NBA. At the Los Angeles Lakers, he was a part of the LA County Sheriff’s Reserve Academy. He also was named an honorary United States Deputy Marshal in 2005. Shaq’s interest in the law grew more when he was traded to the Miami Heat.

Shaq took the training necessary and became a reserve officer for the Miami Beach Police Department. On 8 December 2005, Shaq took his oath, and even though he didn’t make the SWAT team, he was named as a deputy sheriff by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department. He even holds the record for being the tallest deputy Sheriff in all of the United States.
