NBA 2K25 is coming out in September and leaks have started popping up already. One of the major attractions leading up to the release is the player ratings. It happens to be that Ben Simmons is one of those players whose rating has been revealed.
In a post by Basketball Forever on IG, Ben Simmons’ rating has been reportedly dropped down to just 66 in NBA2k25. Among the many fans who commented on the post, there was a name of Shaquille O’Neal. The Big Diesel commented, “Should be lower”.
Ben Simmons played only 15 games last season and 42 in the 2022-23 season. His PPG also decreased from 6.9 to 6.1, which makes sense why Shaq believes 66 is still a high rating for Simmons.
But that’s not the only reason. Simmons and Shaq have a long-standing feud, so it was natural for the NBA legend to continue his beef with the Aussie point guard.
Looking Back at Shaq and Ben Simmons’ Feud
Basketball enthusiasts are familiar with the way Shaquille O’Neal criticizes others. However, Ben Simmons was expecting his former LSU brother to be less harsh on him.
During his appearance on current Lakers HC JJ Redick’s “The Old Man And The Three” podcast in 2022, Simmons spoke about reaching out to Shaq following his critical remarks of the guard’s performance on “Inside The NBA”. The Lakers legend didn’t hold back and bashed Simmons on his “The Big Podcast” for not opening up about dealing with mental health issues.

The back and forth might have stopped, but Shaq’s criticism didn’t. This year, in March, when the NBA HOFer was asked on his podcast to name a player he wished to watch live, Shaq quickly took Simmons’ name. The analyst stated his reason: “Because I’d wanna learn how you can make $80 million and play in 55 games. Teach me how you can f*** games. Teach me.”
Being an injury-prone player, Simmons has missed a chunk of games since his arrival, but that didn’t affect his contract value. His back injury has made things worse. In the 2023-2024 season, the 27-year-old suited up only 15 times for the Nets, which is reason enough to put him under scrutiny.
