Shaquille O’Neal held nothing back when it comes to today’s NBA stars and their unwillingness to stick it out and compete against each other.
NBA fans have become accustomed to some of the best players in the league teaming up with other great players in order to increase their chances of winning a championship and this irritates Shaquille O’Neal.
Pointing out that he never joined forces with Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan and Dave Robinson in the 1990s, O’Neal went bananas on the way some modern stars take on an approaching of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’.
“The words I hate is it’s this new era. We watched the era before us… and we all competed. Guys are getting real lazy and real cute and then they want guys like me and Big Shot Bob to show them some respect,” O’Neal said during an appearance on Robert Horry’s Big Shot Bob podcast.
“Trust me, if I knew it was okay to team up after Houston busting my ass in 1994, I would have went and played next to Hakeem. I would have went to go play with Tim Duncan and Dave Robinson.
“But I was like nope. I’m licking my wounds and I want to beat these dudes and we did.”
