The recent social media move pulled by LeBron James drew significant eyes when he unfollowed his former teammate, Kendrick Perkins. An X (formerly known as Twitter) account, first broke the news about LeBron’s unfollowing spree as Perkins joined the unfortunate list of Blake Griffin and Ben Simmons. What exactly led to this is still unknown, but Perks’ “First Take” co-host Shannon Sharpe wants something to be done about it and decided to call upon some big names.
On a recent show episode, the former Broncos TE said, “Social media need to do something about that. IG. People don’t need to see who I’m following. Why do you need to see who I am following? Why do twitter need to see who I follow and unfollow? Hey Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, y’all need to do something.”
This came after Perkins questioned the need for the features on the social media platform that allow one to see followers and followings of someone. Perkins and LeBron shared the dressing room during their days with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and things got a bit heated off late when the analyst fired a shot at LeBron. He claimed that the Lakers star is “weaseling” into someone else’s moment in the NBA Finals while his team is on vacation.
This came after LeBron expressed his opinion of Kyrie Irving and how mad he is for not being the Mavs guard’s running mate anymore.
Following the news of LeBron James unfollowing Perkins going viral, “First Take” dedicated a whole segment to discussing it, and the reaction from the former Celtics man came to the fore.

Kendrick Perkins Reacts to LeBron James Unfollowing Him
After LeBron unfollowed Perkins, the latter took to social media and wrote, “Everybody didn’t follow Jesus, I’ll be ok.”
More reaction from him was on the way. The next day, Perkins fired back at LeBron and said, “Imagine unfollowing me on Twitter, but you still got to wake up and watch me on TV every day.” He also deduced that his comments over Darvin Ham’s firing hurt LeBron’s feelings. His former teammate did not call or text him if his feelings were hurt.
As the bickering wages on, LeBron plans to get back to top playing conditions ahead of the Paris Olympics. A whole summer of uncertainty around his Lakers’ future lies ahead.
