ESPN’s Shams Charania recently reported that the Heat are open to listening to trade offers involving Butler. It seemed logical since Butler is in the final year of his contract. However, the situation became more contentious when Charania revealed the names of the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, and Phoenix Suns as Butler’s rumored preferred trade destinations.
Charania cited Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, as a source for this information. Lee, however, strongly denied these claims, accusing Charania of spreading false information. In a series of social media posts, Lee called out the reporter, dismissing the report as fabricated.
Despite the backlash, Charania stood by his report during NBA Countdown. He stated that Lee had mentioned these team names within league circles and mentioned the Phoenix Suns as a top contender for Butler.

“And you think about what Jimmy Butler wants, a win now contending situation. There’s been no other win now, team more than these Phoenix Suns. You think about their salary cap bill, what they’ve done with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal going all in. So keep a very close eye on the Phoenix Suns,” Charania said.
Erik Spoelstra Reacts To Jimmy Butler’s Trade Speculation
The Heat’s head coach, Erik Spoelstra, recently addressed the ongoing trade speculation surrounding Jimmy Butler. Despite the rumors, Spoelstra made it clear that he is focused on the team’s performance rather than outside narratives.
“It’s been our best, most consistent stretch of the season. So anything else, any other narrative, I don’t care. Nobody should because most of this stuff has just been all like a bunch of gibberish,” Spoelstra said.
