We all still remember the shocking moment in ‘The Last Dance’ when we all found out that Scottie Pippen was severely underpaid for his time with the Chicago Bulls.
The legend was making $18 million over a 7-year span which ranked 122nd in the league. For reference, reports say that Michael Jordan made over $33 million in the 1997-98 season, while Scottie made $2.8 million.
While with Portland, Pippen would make a little over $15 million a year, which gave him plenty of spending money to do what he wanted.
In 2002, he did just that when he reportedly purchased a Gulfstream Jet for $4.3 Million dollars. Seemed like a cool purchase at the time, but the Jet didn’t even work and Pippen did not know this prior to buying it. That forced him to pay $1 million dollars for it to be able to work.
The flight fiasco resulted in a major lawsuit and in 2010, Pippen won $2 million judgment against the Chicago law firm he blamed for failing to properly monitor his plane purchase.

Just one year later, he would be awarded a $2.37 million judgment against Miami businessman Craig Frost and CF Air that involved another plane fiasco with the NBA legend’s company Air Pip.
Though he was past his prime, the NBA legend still managed to average 11.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 272 games with the Trail Blazers.
