Scottie Pippen joined the Houston Rockets back in 1999. Teaming up with big names like Charles Barkley and Hakeem Olajuwon, the expectations were sky-high. Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be quite different than expected. Instead of ruling the NBA, the Rockets became a fifth seed in the Western Conference. With a 1-3 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoffs, the Rockets bowed out of the season catastrophically. After almost two decades, Pippen has pointed fingers at who the probable culprit might be.
On a recent episode of the ‘PBD podcast,’ Pippen stated that Charles Barkley’s work ethic cost them the season. He also mentioned that Barkley’s inclination to explore nightlife returned to bite the Rockets badly.
“I saw Houston as an opportunity for me really to play with two veteran guys and that we could make something happen real quick, and it was the the lockout season but it was definitely shortlived. In fact Charles started out working out with me and he was all dedicated and working out me and him. I took Grover down there and he lasted about a month… He wanted to enjoy his nightlife and our workouts was predicated on getting up in the morning and training before practice,” said Pippen.
Pippen also mentioned how Michael Jordan warned him about Barkley’s work ethics. Meanwhile, apart from his decision to join the Rockets backfiring, Barkley also had a huge fallout with his former best friend, Michael Jordan. Recently, the NBA legend gave his unfiltered take on the Bulls’ GOAT.

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were inseparable for 10 years. Unfortunately, they had a crack in their friendship that only grew larger to the point that the duo were not on talking terms anymore. Shedding light on their complicated ratio, Pippen appeared on the ‘Patrick Bet-David Podcast.’
“I just think Michael is a very difficult person to deal with. I played with him for years, so I know that when it’s time for you to move in your direction, then go in your direction,” said Pippen.

He further explained that their ratio has deteriorated beyond repair and will not be the same again. Thus, with Scottie Pippen making some controversial claims, it remains to be seen whether Charles Barkley or Michael Jordan reacts.
