Getting a good night’s sleep in a cozy bed is just the right recipe for an athlete to start things off on the perfect note. Unfortunately, the San Antonio Spurs players were not all that lucky last night. In what was a nightmarish turn of events, almost all of the Spurs’ players were awakened by the sudden beeping in their rooms. Much to their horror, it was the fire alarm that went off. And it was vigorously warning the team inhabitants about a fire.
Panicked to the core, the athletes immediately fled their rooms. The entire incident was recorded live by Spurs’ forward, Jeremy Sochan. He also posted the same on his Instagram story. In the video, Sochan and the others could be seen outside in the middle of the night. All the players had a confused look on their faces. Much to their relief, it was later revealed that the alarm was a false one.
Luckily, things soon came under control, and no harm was done as the players returned to bed without further hindrance. However, according to Sochan’s analysis, the Mavericks fans might have been behind the prank. After all, a disrupted night’s sleep can lead to the Spurs’ players lagging significantly the next day on the court. And why would the Mavericks fans want this? Well, as a matter of fact, the San Antonio Spurs will be kicking off their season opener in an away game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Having traveled all the way from San Antonio to Dallas, the lack of sleep could pose a challenge when the two heavyweights clash in the middle. After all, the NBA realm will gear up to witness the epic showdown between Victor Wembanyama and Luka Doncic.
Jeremy Sochan Confident About The Spurs’ Chances Against The Defending Champions
The Dallas Mavericks will be coming in with hopes of making two in two in the Western Conference. But standing in between their dreams will be the Spurs. Despite the experts terming the Spurs as a ‘middling’ team likely to miss the playoffs, the face-off between Victor Wembanyama and Luka Doncic will be a banger. Leading the Mavericks to the finals last year, Doncic has an impressive average of 33.9 points, 9.8 assists, 9.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.

Now compare that to the Rookie of the Year award winner Victor Wembanyama. He averaged 21.4 points, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks, 1.2 steals, and 10.6 rebounds. Wembanyama finished just second in the race for the Defensive Player of the Year last year. Thus, with such an impressive CV, Wembanyama will be expected to grow further in stature.
To add to Spurs’ chances this season, Jeremy Sochan seemed confident about putting up a strong showing. He stated, “It’s not going to be perfect. You know, people have injuries, you know, many restrictions and stuff… But, you know, the whole summer, we’ve been playing open gym during the workshops, during training camp, so I think it’s good. Again, it’s going to be a process. It’s not going to be perfect from game one.” Thus, banking on the boosted morale, it will be interesting to see how the San Antonio Spurs fare this time.
