Los Angeles Clippers guard Russell Westbrook has gone viral following an altercation with a Phoenix Suns fan during Sunday’s Western Conference playoff fixture between the two sides.
The Clippers have the advantage after winning 115-110 to go up 1-0 in the first-round series, with Westbrook scoring nine points and getting a key block down the stretch. He seemed to want all the smoke during halftime as he squared up to a fan.
The video below shows the former Oklahoma City Thunder star being led away after facing up to the fan and telling him “Watch your mouth motherf**ker,” repeating “Watch your mouth” several times.
The incident took place in the club-level lounge and FanDuel’s Eddie Gonzalez, who was present at the time, said it stemmed from the fan calling the guard “Westbrick.”
The Suns have confirmed they are investigating the matter.
“We are aware of the incident that happened tonight and are conducting a review,” the team said in a statement.

The probe might lead to the Suns preventing players from taking a shortcut through said lounge to get to the locker room. According to AZ Central’s Duane Rankin, players have been using the route through club-level seating to get to the locker rooms because it’s shorter than using the tunnel entrance.
Players could be ordered to use the tunnel entrance as a means of avoiding situations like the one described above in future.
