The Los Angeles Lakers have recently captured the spotlight by hiring JJ Redick as their head coach and ongoing uncertainty regarding LeBron James’ future with the team. Amid these developments, the Lakers reportedly focus on acquiring Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant as a potential trade target.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, the Lakers are exploring adding a veteran center to play alongside James and Anthony Davis. Sources have indicated that Jerami Grant is on the Lakers’ wishlist.
“Los Angeles has also made that No. 17 selection available via trade, sources said, as the Lakers have evaluated the market for a significant contributor alongside James and Davis. Jerami Grant, a client of Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, is believed to be another potential addition on the Lakers’ wishlist, according to league sources,” Fischer reported.
Reportedly, the Lakers tried to sign Grant in 2022, but he turned down the offer.
The Lakers hold the No. 17 pick in Wednesday’s draft and are looking to use this pick to build a stronger team. By considering Grant as a potential addition, the Lakers are aiming to create a more formidable lineup after last season’s playoff struggle.

Last summer, the 30-year-old forward signed a significant $160 million contract to remain in Portland. Nevertheless, as the offseason approaches, Grant has once again found himself the subject of trade speculation.
In addition to interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks are reportedly among several teams that have “checked in” on Grant, according to Ian Begley of SNY.
Grant is coming off one of his best NBA seasons. In the last season, he averaged 21.0 points per game, shooting 40.2% from beyond the arc, along with 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 33.9 minutes per game.
With such impressive statistics, it’s no surprise that Grant has attracted attention from multiple teams looking to bolster their rosters.
