The NBA Draft this year appears to have grabbed more attention because of one name: Bronny James. He is the eldest son of the LA Lakers’ LeBron James. As the NBA Draft approaches, more franchises are coming forward to show interest in the budding talent, the latest being the Dallas Mavericks.
As per the reports of NBA insider Marc Stein, “The Mavericks would have interest in selecting Bronny James with the 58th overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, league sources say.” However, he also stated that the franchise knows that “it’s extremely unlikely that James will still be available for selection.”
Stein added that Bronny will likely be selected before the Mavs use their final pick. Since the Lakers have the 55th pick, it has been speculated that they will be the ones to bag the young guard on the final day.
James is getting invitations from multiple franchises to attend workout sessions. However, Bronny James chose to stick with the Lakers and Phoenix Suns. It seems like he has set his mind at an early stage.
The Lakers haven’t shown any clarity as of now. However, the 6-foot-2 guard left an impression on them with his on-court skills, and by acquiring him, they could get LeBron on board.
What Do Lakers Think About Bronny James?
Apart from the recent interest from the Suns and the Mavs, Bronny James has been appreciated by the Lakers. His draft move could secure LeBron’s loyalty to the franchise amid his uncertain future.

According to The Athletic’s Dan Woike, the Lakers were impressed with Bronny’s showings at the NBA Draft Combine. “His athleticism, defensive potential and shooting at the Chicago draft combine have interested the Lakers, who could help make history by pairing him with his father, should LeBron James remain on the team,” wrote the reporter. Jovan Buha has also told the same about the 19-year-old guard.
Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, has already ruled out a two-way contract. So, it is doubtful we’ll see Bronny in the Lakers’ G-League outfit. But if the draft materializes, it will have massive implications.
