Social media is still reeling from the crushing news that after 33 years of marriage, Sonya Curry filed for a divorce from Steph’s dad, Dell Curry, in North Carolina back in June.
Reasons for the divorce are unclear.
Dell met Sonya when they were student-athletes at Virginia Tech. Years later they gave birth to Steph Curry in 1988, Seth in 1990, and daughter Sydel in 1994.
Soon after the news, a rumor surfaced linking rapper Drake to Sonya Curry.
“Steph Curry’s parents who have been married for 33 years are divorcing, and a new report is questioning what Drake will do, given that he allegedly used to “flirt” with Steph’s mom.
According to a person close to Drake, the rap star would frequently flirt with Steph’s mom. The insider explained, “Drake and Sonya used to flirt with each other. It was all in fun. But now that she’s single, I’m pretty sure Drake is going to shoot his shot.”

Sonya and Dell have become popular fixtures around the NBA as they’ve been often seen sitting courtside in matching team gear cheering on Steph and the Warriors, while splitting their time to support Seth — who had stints with the Kings, Trail Blazers and Mavericks before landing in Philadelphia in 2020.
Dell played in the NBA from 1986 until 2002, and retired as the Charlotte Hornets’ all-time leader in points (9,839) and 3-point field goals made (929).
